The Treatment

Before your injections, we apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. Most clients find the procedure very tolerable — and many are surprised by how comfortable it is. The injections themselves are typically completed in 15–30 minutes depending on the areas treated. You'll see results immediately after treatment. Some mild swelling and occasional bruising are normal and typically resolve within a few days to a week. Final results are visible at the 2-week mark as any swelling settles and the filler fully integrates.

Aftercare

To help ensure the best possible outcome and minimize bruising, we recommend the following before and after your appointment:

• Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours before and after treatment

• Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 5–7 days before treatment when possible — this includes aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, omega-3 fatty acids, and St. John's Wort (check with your prescribing provider before stopping any prescription medication)

• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment

• Avoid excessive heat (saunas, hot yoga, hot tubs) for 24–48 hours after treatment

• Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first night if swelling is a concern

• Avoid pressing or massaging the treated area for 2 weeks unless instructed to do so

Will my filler look natural?

Natural results are our primary goal — always. How long do RHA fillers last?

RHA fillers typically last approximately 12 months, though this varies by individual metabolism, the area treated, and the specific formulation used. Areas with more movement (like the lips) may metabolize filler slightly faster than structural areas like the cheeks or jawline. We'll give you a realistic expectation for your specific treatment at your consultation.

Is filler painful?

We apply a topical numbing cream before treatment, and most patients find the procedure very manageable. The sensation is typically described as a mild pressure or pinching. RHA fillers also contain lidocaine (a local anesthetic) within the formulation, which further reduces discomfort during injection. What's the difference between filler and Botox?

Botox (and other neurotoxins like DAXXIFY, JEUVEAU, and DYSPORT) works by relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles — lines from expressions like squinting or frowning. Dermal filler adds volume and structure to restore areas that have lost fullness or to enhance features. They work very differently and are often used together for a more comprehensive result. We offer both at JS Wellness and can help you determine which is appropriate for your goals.

Can filler be dissolved if I don't like the result?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers — including the entire RHA collection — can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if you're unhappy with your result or experience any complications. This is one of the key safety advantages of HA-based fillers. That said, in the hands of an experienced injector using a conservative approach, the need for dissolving is rare.

How soon can I return to normal activities?

Most clients return to their regular routine the same day or the following day. We ask that you avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and alcohol for 24–48 hours after treatment. Any swelling or bruising is typically minimal and resolves within a few days to a week.

Do you offer consultations before committing to treatment?
