About JS Wellness — Eudora, Kansas's Wellness Clinic

A practice built on real relationships, personalized care, and a genuine passion for helping patients feel their best — inside and out.

Our Story — Why JS wellness Exists

JS wellness wasn't born from a business plan. It was born from a conviction — that patients deserve more than rushed appointments, generic protocols, and providers who don't remember their names.

After nearly three decades in healthcare — from bedside nursing to hospital care, clinics, and a medical mission trip deep into the Amazon — Julie Skinner, APRN, FNP-BC saw firsthand what truly personalized, relationship-driven care could do for patients. She also saw what its absence cost them.

When Julie founded JS wellness on Main Street in Eudora, Kansas, she made a deliberate choice: to keep it small, to keep it personal, and to build something that put the patient — not the schedule — at the center of every decision. A place where your provider actually knows you. Where your treatment plan is built around your labs, your life, and your goals. Where you're never just a chart number or a time slot.

That vision hasn't changed. Every appointment at JS wellness reflects the same commitment that drove Julie to open her doors in the first place: you deserve care that actually works, delivered by someone who genuinely cares.

"I wanted to create a space where relationships matter, results are real, and every patient feels truly valued. You're not just a patient here — you're a friend, a valued guest, and that's how you'll always be treated." — Julie Skinner, APRN, FNP-BC

A Career Rooted in Genuine Care

Julie's healthcare career began at age 16 — caring for patients in a nursing home. That early experience shaped something in her that no amount of clinical training could teach: a deep, instinctive understanding of what it means for a patient to feel truly seen and cared for.

Over the decades that followed, she worked across a wide range of clinical environments — hospital floors, outpatient clinics, and eventually a medical mission trip to the Amazon, where she provided care in conditions that demanded both resourcefulness and compassion in equal measure. Each chapter of her career deepened her conviction that the best healthcare is holistic, individualized, and rooted in a genuine relationship between provider and patient.

Her growing interest in functional health — the practice of identifying and addressing the root causes of illness rather than simply managing symptoms — eventually led her to specialize in hormone therapy, metabolic health, and aesthetic wellness. These disciplines share a common thread that resonates deeply with Julie: when you address what's actually driving a patient's symptoms, the results are transformative in ways that conventional symptom management rarely achieves.

Why Eudora — Why Here

Julie chose to build JS wellness in Eudora, KS — her home community — with intention. She wanted to bring the quality of care that patients were driving to Lawrence or Kansas City to find, directly to Main Street. She wanted her neighbors, her community, and the patients across Douglas, Jefferson, Johnson, and Leavenworth counties to have access to truly excellent functional medicine and aesthetic care without the commute, the crowds, or the feeling of being processed through a high-volume clinic.

That local commitment runs deep. JS wellness is not a franchise. It's not a chain. It's a practice that was built here, is run here, and genuinely cares about the health and wellbeing of this community.

Outside the Clinic

When she's not with patients, Julie is outdoors with her husband and their children, tending to a lively household that includes horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and honey bees. The same energy and care she brings to her patients, she brings to every corner of her life.

Tristan Abel is JS wellness's licensed esthetician, medical assistant, and a proud lifelong Eudora native. A 2019 Eudora graduate, Tristan brings a genuine passion for skincare and a natural gift for connecting with clients to every appointment she has.

Tristan specializes in facial rejuvenation and results-driven skin treatments — including HydraFacial (Signature, Deluxe, and Platinum), custom facials, chemical peels, dermaplaning, lash lift and tint, and brow lamination. She is also certified in ZO Skin Health and Plated Skin Science product recommendations, and takes a deeply personalized approach to every client's skincare plan.

What sets Tristan apart isn't just her technical skill — it's her ability to make every client feel genuinely comfortable and understood. She listens carefully, takes the time to analyze each client's skin and concerns, and recommends only what she truly believes will help. You'll never feel pressured or upsold at JS Wellness.

Tristan is currently expanding her expertise by pursuing her nursing degree — a reflection of the same commitment to growth and patient care that defines the entire JS Wellness team. Outside the clinic, she loves spending time with family, traveling, and caring for her dog.

"I have a true passion for skincare and helping clients feel confident in their skin. Every client deserves personalized, top-notch care — and that's exactly what I aim to deliver at every appointment." — Tristan Abel, LE

Our Approach — Functional, Integrative, and Whole-Person

The philosophy behind JS wellness is simple: your body is a connected system, and genuine health comes from treating it that way. We practice functional medicine — an evidence-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of a patient's symptoms rather than simply managing them with medication. When a patient comes to us feeling exhausted, struggling with weight, dealing with brain fog, or experiencing hormonal symptoms, our first question isn't "what drug treats this?" It's "why is this happening — and what does this person's body actually need?"

That means comprehensive lab work. It means taking the time to understand your full health picture — your hormones, your metabolism, your lifestyle, your stress levels, your sleep. It means building a treatment plan that's genuinely individualized to you, not adapted from a generic protocol. And it means following through — with regular monitoring, honest conversations, and adjustments along the way as your body responds and your goals evolve.

Inside and Out

One of the things that makes JS wellness unique is the seamless integration of functional medicine and aesthetic services under one roof. We believe your health and your appearance are deeply connected — and we've seen it play out in practice every day.

Patients who restore their hormonal balance often notice that their skin improves, their weight responds better to treatment, and their overall energy and confidence transform. Patients who address facial volume loss after GLP-1 weight loss with Sculptra leave feeling like their outside finally matches how great they feel on the inside. Patients who commit to a medical-grade skincare routine find that it reinforces the results of their in-office treatments and keeps their skin healthier between appointments.

When your provider understands both the medical and the aesthetic dimensions of your wellness — and treats them as part of the same whole — the results are simply better.

Rooted in the Eudora Community

JS wellness isn't just located in Eudora — it's part of Eudora. Julie gives back regularly to this community, and so does Tristan, who grew up here and graduated from Eudora High School. We're invested in this town and in the people who live here.

We believe that a community's health is shaped by the quality of care available within it. Our goal is to be the kind of practice that raises that bar — that gives people in Eudora and the surrounding communities access to the same caliber of functional medicine and aesthetic expertise they'd find at the best clinics in Kansas City or beyond, delivered with the warmth and personal attention that only a small, community-based practice can offer.

We're grateful for every patient who walks through our doors and trusts us with their health. That trust is something we take seriously — and something we work to earn every single day.
